Pushing an animal to Attack non-standard creatures (see “Attack” trick, Handle Animal skill, Player’s Handbook):

Base DC 25 (see “Pushing an Animal”)

animal is untrained:
  • -2 penalty on saves against fear
  • DC adjustment +0-15
DC adjustment (untrained) Enemy
+0 similar to natural quarry
+5 default
+10 moderately intimidating/unnatural enemy (e.g. many Outsiders)
+15 terrifying/extremely unnatural enemy (e.g. Undead, most Aberrations)

animal is trained to attack normal quarry:

  • -1 penalty on saves against fear
  • DC adjustment -5 – +10
DC adjustment (partially trained) Enemy
-5 similar to natural quarry (animal-like Magical Beasts, etc)
+0 default
+5 moderately intimidating/unnatural enemy (e.g. many Outsiders)
+10 terrifying/extremely unnatural enemy (e.g. Undead, most Aberrations)
animal is trained to attack any creature:
  • no penalties
  • use “Handle an Animal” instead (base DC 10)
