Asëa’s Field of Flowers

School: Conjuration (Creation)
Level: Druid 2
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Components: V, S, DF
Target: Personal
Area: 10ft. radius emanation, centered on you
Duration: 1hr/level

You are surrounded by plants and flowers. Plants and flowers appropriate for the location spring from all natural terrain (note: natural terrain can exist in unnatural environments) within the radius of the spell, though only if you are touching the surface. For example, while flying, no plants grow, but while swimming, lilly pads and flowers would appear around you. Since these plants spring only from natural terrain and are appropriate to the terrain, illusions or trapdoors can readily be detected (for example, a pit with an illusion making it look like soil would be obvious due to the pit-shaped area with no plants. Likewise, a rock Glamered to look like a bush would be apparent, because lichens would spring from the bush rather than the bush flowering). The plants created by this spell are real, but they disappear within seconds if picked (so they cannot be used for horse feed or similar. Note: The acid created by Acid Splash, and the water created by Create Water, are likewise fully real and nonmagical… and fade away after a duration!). The plants are too small to disrupt movement, though they can be utilized by spells like Entangle, though the limited range and the fact that the field follows you makes this very difficult to actually use. Unlike most spells, this cannot be cast on an Animal Companion via the Share Spells rule.

Examples of plants that appear

  • Desert: Succulents like ice plants, small cacti
  • Rocks: Lichens, fungi
  • Grasslands: Daisies, small flowers, etc
  • Forests: Lush grass, small flowers, etc
  • Water: flowering lilly pads, kelp, etc
